Project Overview

The Hackathon event was held 3 days & 2 nights, providing participants with a continuous 45-hour creative period. Our team signed up for the advanced group and designed this campaign website based on the United Nations Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 15 – Protect Life on Land. and focuses on "Forest Management" as its core theme. We aims to increase public awareness and knowledge about this issue while also encouraging individuals to transform their ideas into action.

Design Highlights

Contextualized Experience

Starting with a game as the website's entry point, users are guided through a series of small quiz. Based on their responses, users are divided into different groups and assigned unique user roles.

Through the visuals, animations, and immersive scenarios, users are expected to be immersed in the topic and its relevance to their own lives, creating a contextualized experience that connects them to the issue at hand.

Infographic Design

To enhance the efficiency of user information comprehension, the team condenses complex and detailed information into visually appealing infographics that align with the overall style of the website.

This approach helps to accelerate the transmission of messages and facilitate the digestion of key knowledge by users.

Reconstruct a Sense of Mission

By incorporating the Octalysis framework into the website experience and aligning it with the objectives of sustainable development, we aim to encourage public participation in collective action.

As a result, we encourages users' engagement in the site and urge for the sense of purpose as well as expands the impact of the issue through social connections.

Next Step

At the current stage, the frontend development of the website is 90% complete. Apart from the complete website structure, the content has also been arranged in a continuous manner and integrated into the web pages. The goal is to promote SDG 15: Life on Land and effectively disseminate its objectives to the wider society through the website.

While completing the pages, we have been continuously optimizing and making adjustments to ensure that the website aligns with user habits and maximizes its impact. With that in mind, the team has outlined several future optimization directions and plans as follows:

1. Precise Audience Targeting:
In the current phase, the content is tailored to specific audience segments based on existing data. It is expected that as more people engage with the website, a larger dataset can be collected, allowing for more precise data analysis and more accurate content targeting. This will enable the effective delivery of information to different categories of users.

2. Backend Interactive Operations:
As an advocacy-oriented website, the most effective approach is to encourage users to actively participate in activities related to the issues after gaining awareness. Due to time constraints, the team has not completed the internal statistics on user willingness to take action. Leveraging backend technologies, the plan is to develop a discussion forum in the future, enabling users to engage in real-time discussions after understanding the issues. Additionally, showcasing action photos from participants can inspire others to take action and contribute to the cause.

3. Responsive Website Design:
Currently, the web pages are optimized primarily for common 16:9 computer screens. In the future, there will be a focus on designing for devices with different proportions and sizes, aiming to provide the best browsing experience for each device. CSS breakpoints and careful consideration of displayed content will be used to achieve a responsive design that ensures users can receive our message and have a seamless website experience regardless of when and where they access it.
